When I came up with the design, I took care to represent both our styles. Mint green is my friend’s favourite, so I decided to go all out and use it as a background colour throughout the site, with a mustard yellow for highlights.

The bold sans-serif Montserrat font in headers and links is offset by a slightly more feminine Alegreya body font.

Layout-wise I wanted the blog to be as simple and intuitive as possible. I’ve always disliked the distracting sidebars with endless related posts and archives traditional blog templates use, so I decided to opt instead for tags and unobtrusive image links at the bottom of each post. Recipes can be searched on a seperate page accessible through the main navigation.
